Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Pamlico area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Pamlico area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the perfect vacation home in New Bern:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Sunshine Manor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
