Pamlico area rental home booking tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Pamlico area area. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Pamlico area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful 2 bedroom condo in the resort community of Fairfield Harbour has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
