Tips and Tricks to get the very best Pamlico area rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Finding the perfect rental:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Beautiful 2 bedroom condo in the resort community of Fairfield Harbour has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Pamlico area rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Pamlico area attraction you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
