Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in the Pamlico area area. Reserve your Pamlico area vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Pamlico area area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your group select date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Historic Alston-Charlotte Cottage in Downtown New Bern! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Pamlico area rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
