How to get the best New Bern vacation home experience:
When to visit New Bern & When to reserve a Pamlico area rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the Pamlico area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Pamlico area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
