This unique historic home was originally a dependency to the sizable Coor-Bishop House located a half block away, where President James Monroe stayed in 1819 while touring the South.
The home contains two enormous bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and new King beds with new beds. One King bed can be converted to two Twin XLs upon request. The home
is newly refreshed with fresh paint, new furnishings, luxury linens and amenities and a new gas range in the well-appointed kitchen.
Walk to the riverfront, Tryon Palace and historic downtown and its many eateries, bars, stores, and galleries. Unwind on the screen porch. Cruise or kayak the Neuse and Trent Rivers. Take a short 45-min. drive to Beaufort, Oriental, and the beautiful Crystal Coast beaches.
Sorry, but no kids under 8 years of age. Infants are welcome but we do not provide cribs or playards.
PLEASE NOTE: The home is located on a raised basement with 12 steps from the street level to the front door. All bedrooms are on the second floor.

Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Booking your Pamlico area vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Pamlico area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Pamlico area area:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Circa 1810 Home - Downtown New Bern Historic District - 2 BRs with King Beds has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If not, email the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
