Rental home tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your Pamlico area rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Pamlico area area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing a perfect Pamlico area rental:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Walkable to Downtown! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Have a great stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
