Strategies to get the best Pamlico area rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Summer months are high season in New Bern. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Pamlico area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation home in New Bern:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Moonlight Suite 196* has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a certain Pamlico area beach you long to visit, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
