Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Pamlico area area. To find the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Pamlico area area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Moonlight Suite 196* has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
