Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Pamlico area vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your Pamlico area vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Pamlico area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Pamlico area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Comfortable Extended Stay, Kitchen, W\/D, WI-FI has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
