Pamlico area rental home tips:
When to book a Pamlico area rental & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in New Bern. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Moonlight Lake Suite has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
