Tricks and tips to get the best New Bern vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Pamlico area area. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Pamlico area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Pamlico area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the perfectrental home:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Nice 2 BR Cottage Near Downtown WIFI and Kitchen\n\n has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Pamlico area beach you crave, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
