Our top Pamlico area rental booking tips:
Get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in New Bern. Reserve your Pamlico area vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Pamlico area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the perfect rental home in the Pamlico area area:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Downtown Blue Manor 2 has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Pamlico area attraction you long to visit, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
