Our top New Bern rental property booking tips:
Get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Pamlico area attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 1br Deluxe Condo Outdoor Gold & River Fun! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
