Getting the best Pamlico area rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in New Bern. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Spacious Family Home with Outdoor Space. One mile to downtown has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Pamlico area rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
