Tips to get the best Pamlico area vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summertime is high season in New Bern. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pamlico area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Pamlico area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental in the Pamlico area area:
- First, have your group commit to dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 2 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
